Homecoming king/queen 2022

September 25 through September 30 marked Homecoming week at Algona High School. This year's theme was "Be Our Guest At AHS," a Disney+ theme.

In advisory on Tuesday, September 27, both students and teachers enjoyed playing entertaining activities. The advisories had fun competing against one another and getting to know one another better. Many different games were played by some of the advisories, including ultimate football, volleyball, kickball, bags, spikeball, and more.

Powderpuff Football and Muscle Volleyball were held on Wednesday, September 28. The senior boys and girls both got first place for Powderpuff Football and Muscle Volleyball. The sophomore boys and girls both got second place in both events. Junior girls got third place in Powderpuff Football but the boys got last place in Muscle Volleyball. Freshmen girls got last in Powderpuff Football but the freshmen boys fought back in Muscle Volleyball and got third place.  Senior, Ava Henry, states, “It was a clean sweep for the seniors!” Everyone had so much fun competing against each other!

Every Homecoming week, each grade in the high school decorates a hallway. Everyone decorates their hallway around the theme and tries to make it look the best to win. AHS staff voted on which hallway they thought looked the best and the results were: 4th place freshmen with a Marvel theme, 3rd place was the juniors with princesses, 2nd place was seniors with a Pixar theme, and the winners were the sophomores with classic Disney as their theme.

Last year's Homecoming king was Wyatt Garman and the queen was Maddie Hilbert. The 2022 Homecoming court candidates were Beth Anderson, Levi Clegg, Brooklyn Helmers, John Cox, Moriah Knapp, Simon Feucht, Ella Lawson, Harrison Waltz, A’Lailah Perry, and Caden Weber.

The football game, parade, and pep rally took place at Algona High School on Friday, September 30. Many kids received recognition for their efforts at the pep rally, including all fall sports and activities. Winners of hallways, dress up days, and Wednesday’s events were highlighted. Some students and teachers took part in enjoyable games, including cup stacking, 40 yard princess dash, and finish the lyrics. The pep rally was capped off with the naming of this year’s Homecoming king and queen, Levi Clegg and Moriah Knapp. Many people came to watch the parade, which was a big hit! The weather was wonderful and it was a great chance to highlight the elementary students, fall sports, Homecoming court, and both the middle school and high school band. Homecoming ended with an exciting football game that went into overtime! The Bulldogs came out on top to end the Homecoming week!
