Cross country NCC champions 2022

As fall is starting to set in, the end of the cross country season is quickly approaching. All regular season meets have wrapped up, and the Bulldogs are looking forward to competing in postseason action in order to advance to State. 

The Bulldogs traveled to Eagle Grove on October 4th to run in their seventh meet this year. This race was the last one before the Conference meet in Humboldt. 

The girls’ Varsity placed fifth as a team. Their top runners were Malyn Davis in 11th place, Allison Casey in 28th place, Reese Taylor in 34th place, Paige Meendering in 54th place, Addie Weydert in 56th place, and Allysa Lohman in 57th place. Paige Meendering stated, “The hills kill,” regarding the large hills in Eagle Grove.

The boys’ Varsity placed second overall as a team. Their top runners were Ryan Stundahl in second place, Jace Mortensen in 10th place, Gavin Weber in 14th place, Barrett Morgan in 18th place, Isaac Wilson in 21st place, Ryley Riggert in 25th place, and Brenden Lucas in 27th place. 

On  October 11th, the cross country team battled in Humboldt at the Conference meet. The girls’ Varsity placed 5th and their top performers were Moriah Knapp in fifth place, earning her All Conference honors. Malyn Davis came in 17th place, Allison Casey in 23rd place, Reese Taylor in 34th place, Allyssa Lohman in 35th place, Paige Meendering in 36th place, and Loralei Brady in 37th place.

The boys’ Varsity placed first and are the 2022 NCC cross country champions! This is the first time the boys brought home the championship trophy since 2014. Three AHS boy runners received All Conference honors: Ryan Stundahl in second, Jace Mortensen in fourth, and Gavin Weber in fifth. Rounding out the Bulldog runners, Isaac Wilson finished in 16th place, Sam Tiili in 18th place, Barrett Morgan in 20th place, and Ryley Riggert in 24th place. 

On October 19, the Bulldogs will move on to Districts in Humboldt. In order to make it to State, the runners would need to place in the top three teams or be one of the top 15 individuals.
