Ryan Haynes volleyball 2022

The volleyball team’s regular season is almost done. Currently the girls’ record is 12-13.

Last Thursday, October 6th, the Bulldogs traveled to Clarion in hopes of defeating the Cowgirls after a close game against them in September. The Bulldogs ended up losing 0-3. The last two sets were very close, both ending with a score of 19-25, in favor of the Cowgirls.

Yesterday, October 13th, the girls played their first game against Humboldt. The Bulldogs hoped to defeat Humboldt, being their first time playing the Wildcats this season, but Humboldt’s record going into the game was 17-12. The Dogs knew they were up to some tough competition. The Bulldogs fought hard but ended up losing in three, 18-25, 14-25, and 19-25.

Come support the Algona volleyball team as they host their last tournament of the season. They will be playing Spencer, Lake Mills, and Gladbrook - Reinbeck in a tournament tomorrow located at Algona High School.

Next week, the girls have their first Regional, post-season game against Estherville. Senior, Cailey Carroll, is excited to play Estherville on Monday. She says, “I can’t wait until Monday!” The game will be held at Estherville High School at 7:30.

In order to move on, the Bulldogs need to beat Estherville, so that they can continue their volleyball journey. If the girls beat Estherville, they will continue to play two other teams. If the Bulldogs win all three games, they have a chance at making it to State!
