Swim team 2022

The Algona girls’ diving and swim team, who are well into the season, recently competed in their ninth and tenth meets.

At the Algona YMCA on Thursday, October 6, the girls’ swim team diver, Reese Taylor, faced off against Mason City. Diving started at 5:30 p.m. while swimming took place at 6:30 p.m. Out of four girls, Reese Taylor finished in second place. Despite the girls’ great efforts and hard swimming, the Bulldogs ultimately fell short as a team in the swimming portion of this meet, with the final score 85 to 95. Brooke Ludwig, a swimmer on the Algona team, says, “Swim team is a great sport to be in to stay in shape and be active. If you are good at gymnastics, you should consider diving.”

The girls competed against other schools on Monday, October 10, at the Spencer YMCA. Out of three teams present, the girls finished third. The Spencer Tigers and Sioux City West are two very tough opponents.

Next up, the Bulldogs compete against Decorah at Algona Family YMCA on Thursday, October 20. The following Tuesday, October 25, the girls travel to Carroll High School to compete against multiple schools. Good luck, Bulldogs!
