Knapp & Stundahl State XC 2022

On Wednesday, October 19th, the cross country team traveled to Humboldt to compete in their District, State qualifier event at the Joe Sheldon County Park. Both the girls’ and boys’ teams did very well for having some of the top competition in the state present.

The girls finished 9th as a team in the event. Individually Moriah Knapp finished seventh, which qualified her for State. This is the third time Knapp has qualified for State cross country in her high school career! Malyn Davis finished in 30th place and set a new personal record for the Humboldt course for herself. Alison Casey and Reese Taylor finished in 61st and 65th. Alyssa Lohman finished in 73rd, and Paige Meendering rounded out the runners for AHS, finishing in 74th.

The boys did really well, finishing 5th as a team. The guys had a great race as they had to compete against four of the top 20 teams in the state. The top runners from AHS were Ryan Stundahl, who finished in sixth and qualified for State for the second time in his high school career! Gavin Weber finished in 22nd place, Jace Mortensen finished in 29th place, Barrett Morgan finished in 44th place, Sam Tiili finished in 45th place, Brenden Lucas finished in 55th place, and Isaac Wilson finished in 56th place.

On Thursday, October 27th, AHS held a pep rally for both Knapp and Stundahl as they will travel to Fort Dodge to compete in the State Cross Country meet on Saturday, October 29th. Good luck!
