Returning letter winners girls' basketball 2022

As the Algona fall sports seasons come to a close, students are ready to start their 2022-2023 winter sports, including basketball season. 

  The Algona girls will have five returning seniors this year: A’Lailah Perry, Cailey Carroll, Lillian Etherington, Tora Solbach, and Maddy Kahler. The girls only graduated one player from last year, Maddie Hilbert. The girls finished last year with 11 wins and 11 losses. Noel McLaughlin coached the girls to a 3rd place finish in their Conference. The girls started practicing on Monday, November 7th. Their first game will be Monday, November 21st, against Newell-Fonda. McLaughlin states, “We are excited to get started again! We have lots of kids back this year who played last year.”

The Algona boys will have five returning seniors.: Tristin Larsen, Caden Weber, Simon Feucht, Carlos Gomez-Banchs, and Lamorn Ulfers. The boys graduated five players last year, four of them being starters. The boys finished last year with an overall record of 8 wins and 14 losses. The boys will be coached by Jared Cecil again this year. Practice starts on Monday, the 14th, and the first game will be on the 28th against Estherville Lincoln Central.
