FCCLA pies 2022

Making food last minute can add to the stress during the holiday seasons.

If you’re needing to bring a desert to your Thanksgiving or Christmas celebrations this year, the FCCLA group has a deal for you.

FCCLA members came to school on their day off in hopes of making 50 Dutch apple pies. They came in and split up into separate groups, each group having a different job. The different jobs were: making the crust, peeling and cutting the apples, making the mixture for the apples to be covered in, and making the crumble for the top. The pies were then assembled and frozen, so all you have to do is put it in the oven.

This project took them around five and a half hours, but they ended up meeting their goal of 50 pies. After they were done, they cleaned everything up and put all of the pies in freezers to keep them good to sell. The chapter president, Ashley Cantu, said, “Even though it was on a no school day, I really enjoyed spending time with our chapter and making pies.”

If you’re interested in buying a pie for the holiday seasons, talk to Mrs. Louwagie or one of the FCCLA members. They cost 15 dollars and will be delivered November 22nd by one of the chapter members. The proceeds will help more FCCLA members attend conferences, pay for members to enter and compete in competitions, and help pay for state and regional conferences. There are 39 left, so sign up fast!
