Christmas is just around the corner and there are so many local fun activities to participate in!

Christmas in Algona is magical in so many ways! Santa Claus will be in Algona at the State 5 Theater on: November 25, from 10:30 am-noon and 1:00pm-2:30pm; November 26, from 1:00-2:30pm; and December 15, from 5:30-7:30. Santa Claus will also be at the First United Methodist Church on December 3 from 1:00pm-3:00pm. 

The Live Greeting Card Windows event on State Street was held on November 28, from 6:30pm-8:00pm. All businesses’ windows came alive with holiday decorations and scenes. Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus also attended this event. Strolling entertainment, horse and wagon rides, popcorn, hot cider, and hot chocolate were all provided throughout the night. 

The Wilcox Performing Arts Center will be hosting The Nutcracker, presented by Ballet Des Moines and the Haggard-Twogood Charitable Trust on: December 16, at 7:00pm, and December 17 at 2:00pm. The tickets will be available for purchase on the Haggard-Twogood Charitable Trust Facebook page. These dancers range from 5 to 18 years old and are some of the best in the state, including local talent! Don’t miss out on this awesome opportunity! 

Pancakes with Santa is being held on December 4, 2022, from 9:00am to noon at the Wesley Community Center. Pancakes, sausage, orange juice, and coffee will all be provided. There will also be a decorated/themed Christmas tree silent auction from 9:00am-11:30am. 

Santa will be in LuVerne on December 10, 2022, at the Handlebar. Santa will arrive at 9:00am and breakfast will be served at 8:00am.The breakfast will include: pancakes, scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and a drink. 

Christmas lights will shine bright on people’s homes and other areas this season for wonderful Christmas spirit. Close places to go look at fun Christmas lights are: Ingalls Electric in Bancroft, Lights at Kennedy in Fort Dodge, Christmas by the Lake in Clear Lake, Christmas Parade of Lights in Spencer, and so many other places to visit! Brooklyn Helmers states, “I have been to the lights in Bancroft and it is so fascinating to see them go to the beat of the music.” 

Going sledding down a big hill, watching movies from your cozy home, building gingerbread houses, baking Christmas cookies, and setting up the Christmas tree are also some fun activities to do.
