NHS blood drive 2023

National Honor Society is a nationwide organization that acknowledges students for their successes in leadership, character, and service, in addition to their academic accomplishments. Being a member is viewed as a major advantage by colleges. Becoming a part of NHS will show that you took an active role in your community in addition to earning outstanding grades.

A meeting was held on February 9th at 9:40 am, during TAS, in Mrs. Cassens’ room. Packets were handed out during the meeting and are due Friday, February 17th, by 4:00 pm, if any eligible juniors or seniors want to apply.

To be considered for the National Honor Society, a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 is required for admittance. Students also must document a minimum of twenty hours of community service. The student must submit a typed application packet. Last, a submission of two letters from references that include the student’s leadership, character, and service is required.

Students will be notified the week of February 27th if they will be inducted into NHS. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday, March 14th, at 7:00 pm in the PAC. It is held in conjunction with the Academic Night of Excellence. Current NHS members will be in charge of the ceremony.

Current NHS members also put on a blood drive on Monday, February 13th, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. They were responsible for setting up, handing out snacks, helping donors, and taking things down. Those members were also in charge of finding two volunteers to give blood.
