The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong

Every year Algona High School puts on a musical in the fall and a play in the spring. Last semester the theater department performed the musical Newsies, which was held in October. The musical was based on a rebellious newsboy who dreams of being an artist away from the big city.

This semester’s spring play is called The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields. The One-Act Play That Goes Wrong is about the rowdiness of the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society. It specifically focuses on their attempts to perform a 1920s murder mystery. The first performance of this play was in 2012 in London. It was then moved to Trafalgar Studios in 2013.

This play will be performed on April 1st at 7:00pm and the 2nd at 2pm in the Ed and Betty Wilcox Performing Arts Center. The characters in this play are Riker Brindley, Hannah Severson, Dane Nygaard, Loralei Brady, Jacob Barglof, Aidan Morris, Jacob Schutter, and Seth Walker.

Jacob Barglof stated, “The spring play is gonna have some excellent comedy.” Make sure to check out the play if you want a good laugh!
