The Algona High School band and choir are headed to the large group festival this Friday evening. The festival is held at Spirit Lake High School on May 5th. The band is performing two pieces, “Sound Innovation Fanfare” and “Chorale and Shaker Dance.”
Both groups have spent months preparing for their performances, where they aim to give it their all and ideally get a Division I rating. The band has had three esteemed clinicians come in and critique their technique to prepare them for their most important performance of the year.
When asked what her thoughts on band were, Hannah Severson responded, “Band is a place where people can show off their talents.”
Next up for the band and choir is their concert on May 9th. Awards will also be handed out during this concert. Currently the band and choir members are hosting a value card fundraiser for their trip to Nashville next year. The value cards are twenty dollars a piece and they feature deals, or coupons, for over thirty local businesses.
