Boys' basketball 2023-2024

The boys’ basketball team is doing great this year! The boys’ team has a 5-3 record in the Conference and 8-4 record overall. They have had many close games that brought lots of energy to everyone in the crowd. Tate Garman said, “Patience and trust in the process will lead to extraordinary results.”

The team lost four seniors last year, which has brought a lot of new faces to the floor. There are nine new faces to the Varsity team this year. Players returning from last year are seniors Reid Louwagie and Landon Welp. Returning juniors this year are Ben Helmers, Alex Manske, and Jack Limbaugh. The lone returning sophomore to the Varsity squad is Evan Allie. The new faces to the Varsity team include Daniel Kemna, Logan Lentz, Hoyt Crouch, Ryan Weier, Tate Garman, Levi Walker, Jaxon Eischen, Tyson VanDewalle, and Nathan Manske.

The AHS boys had their annual Pink Out game against Webster City last Friday. With a close win against the Lynx, it made the atmosphere loud and crazy that night! Also, it wasn't just Algona’s Pink Out game but it was every NCC team’s pink out game too!

Leading scorers so far this season are junior, Ben Helmers, with 268 points and junior, Alex Manske, not too far behind with 189 points. Also senior, Landon Welp, has 116 points. The guys are also doing great getting rebounds, with Manske with 81, Helmers with 76, and Limbaugh with 73.

The team was busy once again this week. On Tuesday, they traveled to Humboldt and lost, with a final score of 98-62. They also traveled to Clarion on January 25th and won, with a final score of 64-51. They will finish out the week by traveling to Iowa Falls Alden tonight.

Stay up to date and keep watching the boys as they continue their great ‘23-’24 season and “Rise As One,” as Coach Cecil always states.
