AHS speech students had an amazing turnout at District group speech this year, with six groups representing AHS as they moved onto State Speech. State took place on the third of February at Spencer High School.
Speech groups who moved on to State include Musical Theater Group one with Sarah Mawdsley and Remi Shaffer; Musical Theater Group two with Aleena Rosacker, Hannah Severson, Seth Walker, Evan Posey, and Sydney Seebecker; One Act with Sarah Mawdsley, Sydney Seebecker, Flynn McCann, Hannah Severson, Riker Brindley, Evan Posey, Aleena Rosacker, and Sadie Johnson; Short Film with Faith Zeller and Waverly Espe; Radio Broadcasting with Cassidy Bierstedt and Flynn McCann; and lastly, Readers Theater with Evie Guenther, Waverly Espe, Abigail Smith, Sadie Johnson, Cassidy Bierstedt, and Wynter VanReese. Sadie Johnson states, “We worked hard to speak. We spoke. People heard.”
At State, in order to proceed, groups are required two All State recommendations from judges.
AHS is now starting up their individual speech season as group speech comes to a close. Some popular individual events that students like to participate in include Musical Theater, Original Oratory, Poetry/Prose, Spontaneous Speaking, and Radio Broadcasting. Students will be competing in their individual events on February 24th at Sioux Central Community Schools.
