Journalism class 2024

The journalism class at Algona High School has been working hard putting together the yearbook and senior book for the 2023-2024 school year. The yearbook theme this year is “Bulldog Eras,” based off of Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.

Each section of the yearbook has a different theme based on the different albums that make up the Eras. Seniors have Reputation, juniors have Red, sophomores have 1989, and freshmen have Fearless. The staff section is Speak Now, student life is Lover, sports are Midnights, activities are Debut, academics are Evermore, and fine arts are Folklore.

The yearbook highlights activities and events from the 2023-2024 school year. Baseball and softball seasons from the previous year are covered to make sure that yearbooks will be here by August of next school year. Yearbooks cost $60 and can be purchased through Infinite Campus extra fees or from Mrs. Spear.

The senior book has a page for each senior, composed of various questions that the seniors answered. Each senior provided a baby picture, elementary picture, and their senior picture for their designated page. Senior books cost $20 and should be delivered on graduation rehearsal day. Orders for this are the same as the yearbook, through Infinite Campus or Mrs. Spear.

In addition to these publications, the journalism class also does the school newspaper, The Voice, which is printed and published on the school website every other Friday. They also do the Toilet Paper, which is posted in the bathrooms. Information that students gather for the yearbook will be included on the kiosk in the high school commons and can also be found online, through the school webpage. Aleena Rosacker said, “I feel like I’ve learned a lot in a short amount of time” when asked about journalism class.

The journalism class is working hard to turn out wonderful publications for the school and to keep for all of history.
