Senior Spotlight - Remi Shaffer

Remi Shaffer is one of the many outstanding seniors graduating this May! Remi is involved in many activities at AHS including Quiz Bowl, Mock Trial, Model UN, theater, large group and individual speech, and choir. Not only is Remi involved in many activities, but they also maintain a high grade point average, including being recognized at the upcoming Academic Night of Excellence. They also lend a helping hand to any peers in need.

While not at school, Remi likes to read, draw, and write stories. They have many favorite memories from high school, such as singing at Superstars, getting to play a character/witness for Mock Trial, and interacting with their favorite teachers. Remi says they will miss their teachers and underclassmen friends the most after graduating.

Remi has multiple pets, a dog, named Aspen, who is two years old, and a cat, named Kitty, who is nine years old. Their family also has three other dogs: Pepper, Mochi, and Luna. They enjoy chilling and watching TV with their pets.

After high school, Remi plans to attend the University of Iowa as an art major. They will move to Iowa City this summer, into their own apartment. While in college, Remi is most looking forward to their student discount. After college, they hope to become an art teacher or a tattoo artist.

When asked what advice they would give to the underclassmen, Remi said, “Remember, there are people around you who care.” Remi is a sweet, funny, kind, and caring individual. Their bright personality and funky earrings will be greatly missed!
