ISASP 2025

Written by Avery Hersom

Some people ask, “What is ISASP testing?” ISASP stands for the Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress. It is a comprehensive assessment designed to measure students' achievement and growth in alignment with the Iowa Core standards.

Students in grades 3-11 are tested in the categories of math, English, and language arts, with an additional science test for just the sophomores. The test is usually given towards the end of the school year, providing a detailed survey of students' proficiency and readiness for college and career pathways.

Even though the underclassmen have to take it every year,  seniors don’t have to worry about it, which they enjoy.

Natalee Reemtsma, a junior, says, “I love getting free snacks. Thanks Fogarty for the donuts!”

Although the scores don't correlate with your grade, they are used to see how well the teachers are doing their jobs and how well students are retaining the information. It can also determine how much money the school is granted.

Students will go over scores yet this year, in advisory.  Every year there is a bar that every student should reach or excel. Students were given that bar in advisory before testing. Goals were also set then. When students receive their scores, they will check if their goals were met.
