Iowa Youth Symposium fall 2025

AHS students attended the Iowa Youth Symposium at the State Capitol in Des Moines on October 29th and 30th. The symposium brought together 389 students from 23 high schools across Iowa. Students assumed the role of United States diplomats within the United Nations to develop resolutions on current global issues.Iowa Youth Symposium 2025 outstanding delegate Abby Lampe

During the first day's session on Wednesday, 141 outstanding regional delegates convened to discuss their position papers and policy proposals with local experts. From AHS, Kinsey Throne, Abby Lampe, Triston Fillingim, Jordan Jansen, Nicholas DePue, Lizzie Gatton, and Thomas Espe were selected as outstanding regional delegates to represent the North-Central Region.

Daisy Mitchell, Sophia Fuerstenau, Micah Kelley, Vlada Khomenko, Karsyn Bailey, Violet Espe, and Silkee Miller joined us on day two for the continuation of the debate, ending with five complete resolution papers. AHS student Abby Lampe was also selected as an Outstanding Delegate in her committee at this conference, one of 20 out of 389 students!
