The 2025 softball team put together an impressive and competitive season, finishing 20–7 overall and 10–4 in the Conference to secure second place in the North Central Conference. They ended their season with a competitive, 12 inning game against Estherville Lincoln Central in the subState game.
Success came from strong contributions throughout the lineup, with multiple players stepping up in key moments. Reagan Haynes led the offense with 41 hits and a team high seven home runs, while Maya Lentz and Allison Trunkhill each recorded 36 hits, and senior, Kaitlyn Burns, added 33. Lentz also led the team in runs scored, with 34, followed closely by Burns with 30.
Defensively, the team was just as strong. BellaJo Dunning led with 44 assists, supported by Lentz’s 36 and Trunkhill’s 23. Reagan Haynes anchored the fielding effort with 155 putouts, while senior, Kayla Buscher, recorded 125 and Gabby Vanteicher added 36. In pitching, Allison Trunkhill delivered a dominant performance with 136 strikeouts, while senior Rayn Haynes contributed 21. Together, these performances defined a well rounded season built on consistency, leadership, and teamwork.
Addison Adcock, a freshman on the team, said, “Softball is a great place to make friends!”
There were a couple girls who made All Conference with their impressive performance. First team All Conference honors went to senior,
Ryan Haynes, sophomore, Reagan Haynes, and junior, Allison Trunkhill. All Conference 2nd team were sophomore, Maya Lentz, and senior, Kaitlyn Burns. All Conference 3rd team were senior, Lainey Venteicher, and sophomore, Emma Spear.
The team graduated four seniors who will be missed: Kaitlyn Burns, Ryan Haynes, Kayla Buscher, and Lainey Venteicher.
Overall, the 2025 season showcased the team’s depth, determination, and ability to compete at a high level. With multiple players earning All Conference honors and consistent contributions on offense, defense, and in the circle, the team proved itself as one of the top programs in the North Central Conference.
