Girls' swim & dive 2025

The Algona girls' swim team had many highlights in the 2025 season to be celebrated. They had 15 swimmers out for the team this year. They placed 3rd at the Fort Dodge invite, which was the highest they have ever placed. They also won their first home meet in 10 years this season!

Senior swimmer, Natalee Reemtsma, says, “The swim team has helped me become a better leader and has given me friends to last a lifetime.”

 At Regionals, the girls dropped a total of 78 seconds and had two swimmers qualify for State. The team placed 4th, the highest the swim team has ever placed at Regionals. Also at this meet, two school records were broken. 

The 200 medley relay record was broken by Keira Friders, Ella Welp, Lily Elness, and Kinzee Thilges. The new record is set at 2:02.13 while the old record was 2:02.85. The 200 freestyle relay of Ella Welp, Natalee Reemtsma, Hannah Dose, and Kinzee Thilges broke their previous record by three seconds! Changing the State swim 2025previous record of 1:51.90 to a new record of 1:48.46.

The two State qualifiers this year were Reese Taylor and Ella Welp. Taylor is a 4 time State qualifier in diving. At State Taylor got 9th place with a score of 392.05. Welp is a 2 time State qualifier.  This season she went to State in the 100-yard breaststroke. At State she placed 16th with a time of 1:10.51.

The team graduated four swimmers and one diver. Breanna Abendroth has been involved with the swim team for one year. Brooklyn Adams has been a part of the high school swim team for four years. Natalee Reemtsma has been swimming all four years of high school. Mada Steburg has been involved in the high school swim team for four years. Reese Taylor has been diving all four years of high school.
