Advisory groups at AHS give back to the community in many ways and enjoy doing so. Each advisory is expected to give back in some way to the community as the community does a lot for the school and activities.
Several advisories at Algona High School have already done this, such as Mrs. Spearās advisory donated soup and helped organize items at Moving Veterans Forward. Mr. Connickās advisory donated donuts to nurses at the hospital. Mrs. Nilesā advisory gave goody bags to the police department, sheriffs department, and fire department. Mr. Cecilās advisory gave snacks to the custodians. Mrs. Louwagieās advisory contributed to pork loin meals at the Food Pantry.
AHS student Andrea Cortez, who is part of Mrs. Louwgieās advisory, said, āIt was nice to help people in need.ā
These are just some of the many ways students of AHS are giving back to the community. There are many more advisory groups that have also given back to the community and others that plan to give back yet this school year.
