The 2025-2026 girls’ dance team has had a great year that they’re ending on a high note.
On December 4th, 2025, AHS dance members performed at State, which was held at Casey’s Center and EMC Convention Center in Des Moines. Their show was called “From Pitch to Paradise” and presented songs from Teen Beach and Pitch Perfect. The girls placed 4th in the Novelty division. They received a Division I rating and 6th place for their Pom routine. Hana Perez said, “Dance team has been a really fun experience. The team this year worked really hard. Our goal was not only just to place but have fun and leave it all on the floor.”
While at State they had three State soloists, Allee Carr, Adyson Metzger, and Jada Roberts. Metzger said, “I love my team and our season.” Carr received 26th place, followed by Roberts placing 33rd, and Metzger placing 40th.
The girls performed a few different routines throughout the year including “The Mix,” “Game Day Pom,” and “Elementary Clinic.” They got the privilege to dance with alumni during their Christmas performance. Their Christmas show was called “Christmas Jazz.” Besides State, they performed at Homecoming, some basketball halftimes, and a pep rally. Jada Roberts said, “I can't wait to showcase everything we've been working hard for this season.”
In upcoming events, the girls will be performing at one more halftime, on February 2nd, 2026, and their spring show will take place on February 27th, 2026. In addition to showing all of their previous dances, the girls will be performing new dances featuring seniors and teachers. Meghan Perez said, “State was a great experience, I'm very thankful for my team. I'm excited for the spring show.”
