The AHS girls’ basketball team is currently 11-4 overall. They are working their way through the second half of the season. Hayden McLaughlin, Kate Limbaugh, and BellaJo Dunning have the highest point averages on the team, with McLaughlin making over 80% of her free throw shots. Limbaugh made over 80% of all 3 point shots, and Dunning made over 110 points in all games this season so far.

Before winter break, the girls had wins over Conference opponents Iowa Falls, Saint Edmonds, and Webster City. They had tough non-Conference opponents which resulted in losses but were tough competition, including Garrigan, Garner, and Forest City.

On Saturday, January 17th, the girls traveled to Spencer for a non-Conference game. The Dogs took dominance after halftime, ending with a final score of 60-45.

The Dogs were on the road again on Tuesday, January 20th, at Clear Lake. This game was a close one as the girls barely pulled it off with a score of 46-41. The girls lost to the Lions previously this season, so this win was one the girls really wanted. It also puts them in a tie for the Conference title currently.

On Thursday, the 22nd, the girls went to Pocahontas to play. Pocahontas had a solid team with lots of strong players, but the Dogs took home the win with a final score of 46-41.

The Dogs hosted Iowa Falls in Conference action on Friday, January 23rd. The Dogs blew away the competition, 62-31, adding another win to their 11-4 season so far.

Next up, they host St. Edmond on the 27th and traveled to Webster City on the 30th. Coach Noel McLaughlin says, ”The kids are working hard and have had some success with lots more to come.”
