Boys' wrestling 2025-2026

The boys’ Bulldog wrestling team currently has a dual record of 9-1.

They started the year off scraping at the Cliff Keen Independence Invitational on December 5th and 6th. The team placed 16th overall but was .5 points off of being in the top 15 of team placement. The Bulldogs had some young Bulldogs who had their time to shine with their first Varsity appearance of their high school careers. Justin Eischen placed 21st at 106, Tyler Friedrich placed 25th at 113, and Runner Trulijo, at 144, placed 20th. Highlights from this invite include: Taevyn Zinnel placed 5th at the 165 pound weight class, Brody Shipler placed 4th at the 190 pound weight class, and Tayten Rummel placed 6th at the 215 pound weight class

In duals, the Bulldogs have beaten Humboldt, Charles City, Estherville, Okoboji, Clear Lake, Hampton, St. Eds, and Webster City.  A couple of highlights include: during the Humboldt, Charles City, and GHV meet, Zinnel won with a tech fall over Jaxson Kirkhoff from Humboldt, 19-4, in 4:06. Will Limbaugh took down Nathan Maas from GHV with a fall in 0:45. Limbaugh states, “Wrestle hard and have fun.”

On Thursday, January 15th, the Bulldogs traveled to Hampton for a triangular. Some 

highlights from that scramble were Tyler Friedrich with a fall over Joe Guevara of Hampton in 0:32 and Carter McGregor with a fall over Cayden VanVoorhis of Clear Lake in 0:35. 

On Saturday, January 17th, the boys went to Creston for the Panther Invite. The Bulldogs finished in a tie for 1st place with Eddysville-Blakesburg-Fremont. Highlights include: Barrett Morgan placing 2nd place in the 120 pound weight class, Will Limbaugh placing 3rd in the 285 weight class, Cael Rotert placing 2nd in the 175 pound weight class, Taevyn Zinnel placing 1st in the 165 pound weight class, Brody Shipler placing 3rd in the 190 weight class, and Tayten Rummel placing 3rd as well in the 215 weight class to wrap up the tournament.

Next up, the Bulldogs took on Iowa Falls and Clarion-Goldfield Dows to keep hold of their NCC title. The Bulldogs took down Iowa Falls Alden 54 to 19.  Some highlights from this dual include Brooks Morgan with a fall over Isaac Doering in 0:50 and Tayten Rummel over Jag Jaas from Iowa Falls in 2:26 with a fall. The Bulldogs sadly lost to Clarion, ruining their undefeated streak. During this dual, some highlights from the Bulldogs include Carter McGregor over Adam Hodson from Clarion with a fall in 3:42 at the 165 pound weight class and Taevyn Zinnel over Ryland Morgan from Clarion with a major decision, 13-3, at the 175 pound weight class.

Next on the Bulldogs’ schedule is the NCC Conference meet on Saturday, January 24th, in Humboldt.
