FCCLA 2025

Written by Abbi Reemtsma

The FCCLA members have been very involved so far this year. There are currently 38 active FCCLA members.

They started their year with an apple pie and apple crisp fundraiser. These are always a big hit and a good fundraiser for FCCLA events throughout the year. For Thanksgiving, they had a Friendsgiving get-together. For Christmas they got together and did a fun Christmas gift exchange.

They sold candy grams and used that money to purchase fabric for tie blankets. They donated the tie blankets to the Ronald McDonald House in Des Moines.

FCCLA members are currently working on their state projects that will be presented in March in Cedar Rapids.

This past week was FCCLA Week. Monday was Member Monday. They celebrated by getting to make a fun refresher in Mrs. Louwagie’s room. Tuesday was Teacher Tuesday. The members were encouraged to thank an FCS teacher. Wednesday was Giving Wednesday. The FCCLA members got an opportunity to go to the Algona Manor and spread some joy! Alumni Thursday is when the members got to recognize former members. Finally, Friday was FCCLA Friday. The members were encouraged to wear red. Throughout the week, they also sold Crush pop to deliver to crushes that Friday!

Several FCCLA members participated in CTE Day at the Capitol on February 19th. While in Des Moines, they also visited the Ronald McDonald House, made a meal, and dropped off pop tabs as well as supplies. The money for the meal was raised through the Crush pop purchases.

FCCLA has been up to a lot so far this year! Member Eden Geddings says, “FCCLA is a great way to meet new people, and it’s the perfect opportunity to grow.”
