Golf preseason 2026

Written by Aylee Herke

Get ready, because golf season is almost here! The Algona girls wrapped up their 2025 season with solid, consistent effort across 18 and nine-hole matches. The team kept improving and didn’t stop giving their all! The girls ended their season with an overall record of 40-8.

There were many players who stood out last season including former sophomore, Taylor Hellman, who finished out her season with a combined average of 51.29 points. The 2025 team loses seniors Lillian Miller, Caitlin Louscher, Lainey Venteicher, and Waverly Espe.

Former sophomores Gabby Venteicher and Ella Welp will be returning this year to hopefully continue their impressive scoring averages. Welp held the team up with the lowest nine-hole score of 46.86. Venteicher had the second lowest team nine-hole score of 47.63.

Coach Mike Weier says, “We have a lot of returning starters, so there is a lot of excitement coming back this season.”

The first practice is March 16th, and the first meet is April 14th at home. If you are interested in joining the AHS girls’ golf team, contact Mr. Weier!
