State girls wrestling 2026

The girls battled their way through the 2025-2026 season, improving each week! The hard work paid off, and it showed in Coralville. The team only had six girls competing at State and placed second as a team in class 2A, which consists of bigger schools, like Ankeny, Southeast Polk, and Denver.

Mara Davis had a record of 3-1 at State, winning by a decision twice and pinning her opponent once. In the semifinals, Davis had a big win over Kiara Ruiz, winning by decision. In the finals, Davis at 100 pounds, faced off against Nora Ohnemus from Indianola. Davis fought hard but came short, placing 2nd. Ruby Roof champion 2026

Freshman Ruby Roof went undefeated at State, pinning all of her opponents at 125 pounds, giving her a final record of 46-1. Roof faced off against Camille Schult in the finals, winning with a pin to put her in 1st place. 

At 155 pounds, Regan Jensen had a record of 3-1 at State, pinning her way to the semifinals then winning by a decision against Layna Demoss. In the finals, Jensen faced off against Skylar Slade but lost by pin, putting her in 2nd place. 

Reagan Haynes champion 2026Wrestler Reagan Haynes, at 190 pounds, had a great State appearance, pinning all of her opponents. Haynes was predicted to get second but faced off against Eva Jara in the finals and Haynes dominated by pinning her! Haynes won the title in the 190 pound class.  

Junior Sienna Fehr fought through her bracket with a record of 2-2 at State. Fehr was predicted to place 12th but placed 8th! 

Laura Stohr had a great attitude and wrestled hard at State with a record of 1-2, but unfortunately didn't place.

Freshman Emily Oldenkamp states, "Wrestling is a great opportunity that gives you a family and makes you grow as a person. It is an experience that I will never forget.¨

The girls had a wonderful season and competed their hearts out. The wrestlers are now done with the season but have an opportunity to wrestle at AAU State and freestyle.
