Algona participated in the State speech contest at Cherokee on Saturday, February 7th, and did very well!
Braylon Whitacre went to State for short film and got a Division II rating.
Korbin Awe, Hannah Dose, Elijah Garrett, Finn Garrett, Mckenna Van Reese, and Grace Luitjens went to State speech for Musical Theater. Despite battling some sicknesses, they did a good job and received a Division II rating.
The “Foreigner” group consisted of Elijah Garrett, Finn Garrett, Hannah Dose, and Korbin Awe. They got the only Division I rating for Algona at State speech.
Abby Smith and Nick DePue were at State for radio broadcasting and they got a Division II rating.
Abby Smith, Nick DePue, and Aiden Peterson competed in Ensemble Acting and earned a Division II rating.
The seniors who are graduating from speech this year are Elijah Garrett and Nick DePue. “Speech is a challenging but rewarding way to improve social skills and build confidence,” says Elijah Garrett.
The Bulldogs had a great season and look to continue success next year with many underclassmen participants.
