Last Friday, February 13th, Algona’s chapter of National Honor Society held their annual blood drive at Algona High School through LifeServe Blood Center. From nine in the morning until two in the afternoon, students, teachers, and community members donated blood for a good cause. When asked about the blood drive, senior Gavin Weber said, “It was fun to help out the community.”
A total of 39 people donated with 16 of them being first time donors. A couple of first time donors were Evie Martinez, Reagan Haynes, and Keaton Wingerson. All of the donations combined was put towards 42 units, which will go on to affect 126 lives. Both Mr. Weier and Mr. Protexter hit donation milestones last Friday. Weier has donated a gallon while Protexter has donated two gallons.
The next blood drive is scheduled for February 12th of 2027. Thank you everyone for your time and donations!
