Students at AHS have an opportunity to learn about what career they are interested in and sometimes learn what they're not interested in. This internship program is where individuals leave the campus for one or two hours in a day to go work at many places in the community.
AHS student Ellie Brinkley is currently doing an internship with Sign Works and said, “I follow one of the workers around and design stuff and cut out vinyl.” One of the major lessons she has learned from her internship so far is how to maintain the business quality and connect with customers. Other AHS students have internships at the hospital and even at the school.
In order to get an internship through the program at AHS, students have to be a junior or senior. Being 18 really helps with the amount of job offers that you can find, but Mr. Connick works to find good internship fits if you aren’t quite 18 yet.
There are currently 20 students participating in this internship program. This program has been available at AHS for nine years.
