The Algona Bulldogs’ jazz band was presented with a great competition opportunity. On February 16, 2026, the jazz band got to compete at the NCIBA 1A/3A Jazz Festival in Clear Lake. They performed at 10:25 am, at the historic Surf Ballroom, and had an excellent performance, according to the band instructor, Mr. Liebl.
The jazz band students who got to take part were Abigail Droessler, Ada Kortenber, Thomas Espe, Axel Mortensen, Catherine Hart, Cassidy Bierstedt, Owen Orban, Brayden Adams, Alejandro Gutierrez Gonzalez, Ethan Orban, Allison Trunkhill, Connor Reagan, Landon Menning, Paul Kissinger, Kisey Throne, David Kissinger, Jaxon Olmstead, Joey Merrill, and Jayce Moser. Ada Kortenber says, “Jazz band is a great place to build new friendships.”
