The Bulldogs had nine wrestlers qualify for the 2025-2026 IHSSA Boys’ State Wrestling Tournament. The tournament was held from February 18th through February 21st. The boys’ 2A brackets started at 2pm on the 19th.
The first wrestler from AHS to hit the mat was Teague Alesch at 120 pounds. Alesch’s record at the Caseys Arena was 0-2. He lost his first match by a major decision, 13-3. After that he had a bye in the consolation round and then lost his last match with a tech fall 19-1 in 2:29.
Next up was Brooks Morgan at 132 pounds. Brooks' record at State was 0-2. He lost his first match by fall in 1:27. After that match, Brooks had a bye, then he lost his next match 12-0 with a fall in 4:37.
After Brooks was CJ McGregor at 144 pounds. CJ’s record at State was 1-2. He won his first match by an 11-6 decision. He lost his next match in a 17-4 major decision. Then he lost his last match, 14-8, in a decision.
Next was Barrett Morgan at 150 pounds. Barrett went 2-2. He won his first match with a fall in 48 seconds. He then lost his second match with a tech fall, 16-1, in 2:08. His next match he won in a major decision, 16-7. In his last match he lost with a major decision, 13-3.
Then Carter McGregor was up at 157 pounds. Carter went 2-2. He won his first match, 7-2, in a decision. He then lost his next match in a tech fall, 20-3, in 2:39. His next match he won with a tech fall, 15-0, in 3:47. He then lost his last match with a fall in 22 seconds.
Taevyn Zinnel wrestled at 165 pounds. Zinnel went 3-2. He won his first match with a tech fall, 17-2, in 2:51. Then he lost his second match with a major decision, 16-4. He then went on a streak and won his next two matches that ended up with a major decision 13-3 and a decision 4-1. He lost his last match with a fall in 2:40.
Brody Shipler competed at 175 pounds. Shipler went 3-2 at State. His first match was a win in a decision 7-3. He then lost his second match in a decision, 5-2. Shipler then went on a winning streak, ending in a fall in 2:57 and a decision 8-3. His last match was a loss that ended in a major decision, 3-12.
Tayten Rummel wrestled at 215 pounds at State. Rummel went 3-2 overall. His first match was a win in a major decision, 12-1. His next match was a loss in a 5-1 decision. He then won his next two matches in a 4-2 decision and a tech fall, 17-1, in 3:46. Rummel’s last match was a loss in a fall in 3:29.
Last for the Bulldogs was Will Limbaugh at 285 pounds. Limbaugh went 2-2 at State. His first two matches were wins in a fall in 1:07 and a 4-3 decision. His last two matches were losses, a fall in 3:53 and a fall in 3:02. “It was a great experience being down there for the first year. I’m hoping next year is a little better. I need to work harder,” states Will Limbaugh.
Even though none of the boys placed, they all had a very good and hard fought season.
