This year over spring break, Algona High School's music department will be going on their annual trip. It is a wonderful opportunity for any student in the music department to experience every two years. This year the choir and band students will be traveling to Chicago. They depart from the school on March 19. On their four day trip there will be many activities that they partake in.
Their first stop, among many other experiences, is the infamous bean. Then they get to have dinner at a jazz club. The students will also get to explore the Field Museum of Natural History as well as The Art Institute of Chicago. Whilst in Chicago they will also attend a Broadway show of Hamilton live. Senior Mada Steburg says, “I am looking forward to the Chicago trip because we get to see Hamilton and go to the aquarium.”
On their last days they will be participating in a musical clinic at VanderCook College for a university-level workshop. Then to continue the fun, the students will be going to Griffin Museum of Science and Industry where it offers over 800 interactive exhibits. After the museum, they will be visiting the 360 Chicago tilt. They also get to enjoy a performance of the world famous Chicago symphony orchestra.
Lastly, before the students have to come back home from their eventful trip, they will arrive at the Shedd Aquarium, the world's largest indoor aquarium. They will return to Algona on the 22nd of March.
