Three of the Algona dance team girls will be dancing at the halftime show and pre-game at the girls’ State basketball game on Friday and Saturday, March 6 to 7, at the Casey's Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Allee Carr, Jada Roberts, and Adyson Metzger were all chosen from AHS.

In order to qualify for this, the girls auditioned with 457 other girls from across the state for the All Iowa Honor Dance Team on August 23. At auditions, they learned different combinations in pom, kick, and hip hop.

Adyson Metzger was selected for a pregame performance with 49 other dancers. They will be performing a patriotic salute to “America” and “Stars and Stripes Forever.” Metzger will be performing both Friday and Saturday. Allee Carr and Jada Roberts were selected for the pom halftime team during the 4A championship game, around 2:30pm on Saturday. Carr and Roberts get to perform with 250 other dancers, where they do pom, kick, and hip hop routines.

The girls and Coach Carr left Thursday, March 5, at 10:00 in the morning. They have rehearsals Thursday and Friday all day long.

You can watch the girls dance; the pregame and halftime performances can be viewed on local Iowa PBS stations.

Allee Carr said, “My senior year, my final bow. I’m forever grateful for the honor of dancing on the All Iowa Honor Dance Team.”
