National FFA Week was celebrated the week of February 22nd to honor George Washington as an agriculturalist and farmer. Algona High School celebrated National FFA Week by dressing up and doing activities during school. FFA member, Tucker Brunsvold, said, “FFA week is cool.”
The week kicked off with Monday as camo day. Tuesday was chapter t-shirt day and that night there was a pancake feed and labor action. Proceeds from the labor auction go to chapter events and give back opportunities.
Wednesday was America day, and Ag Olympics were held during TAS. During Ag Olympics, students participated in ag-related activities like hay bale toss and egg on the spoon. The team that won Ag Olympics was Walker Eilerts, Grady Ruger, Lacie Vaske, Rayn Barglof, and Cassidy Bierstedt. Also on Wednesday, Farm Bureau bought the FFA members pizza during lunch.
Thursday was officer team colors. Each FFA officer had a specific color, and everyone who wore that color earned that officer “points.” There was also a truck show in the parking lot.
Usually during FFA Week is Drive Your Tractor to School Day. However, due to cold weather the week of FFA Week, that day is postponed to March 13th.
