Superstars is a day when the grades split up to compete for first place. To show the grade divides, the grades wear different colors. Freshmen wear white, sophomores wear blue, juniors wear red, and seniors wear black.
Last year, the juniors placed 4th, the freshmen got 3rd, sophomores got 2nd, and the seniors got 1st. This year's juniors are eager to win since they were close last year. But this year's seniors are looking to move up in the podium from last year's bottom. Science teacher Noah Arrowood states, “I can always feel the intensity in the air!¨
To start off the competition at 11:45 Slagle will announce the opening ceremonies, then switch to the skit. During the skit, new staff Ben Gatton, Justine Hellman, and Katelyn Fischels will perform, relating to this year's theme: Winter Olympics, Beauty in Action.
At 12:00, the grades will compete in a game of dodgeball. Students from each grade will line up in the gym to play while the other students sit in the stands, cheering on their grade. Also at noon, if you're not interested in dodgeball, Quiz Bowl will be going on in Stein's room.
After dodgeball, drop-in events go until 1:30. To participate in these events you must be in your class color. These events include chess, checkers, cribbage, Uno, topple, cup stacking, grand prize game, ping pong, fencing, and Yahtzee. These are easy ways to earn lots of points for your grade. No sign up is required for any of these events, and they are all held in the commons.
At 12:45 there is an array of activities to compete in, but to compete in these events, you must have signed up beforehand. These events include arm wrestling, corn hole, ledge ball, pickleball, paper airplane contest, putting, steal the bacon, and rubiks cube challenge.
The last events before the break are at 1:15. These include spikeball, human ladder, weird shuttle relay, euchre, chipping, truck pushing, and crab soccer.
Halftime is at 2:00. The halftime break includes a talent show, where each class gets two acts. The grades get five points for performing and then additional points for top four place winners. If your act is over three minutes, you get the gong!
When the talent show is over, everyone heads to the gym. Limbo, tire bridge, three point contest, and musical chairs will go on.
At the end of the day, at 3:00, the grades compete in hungry hippo, and at 3:15, tug of war goes on to conclude the competitive events of the day.
The announcement of class placing happens at 4:00, commencing at the award stand for pictures and the closing victory song.
