This year's NCAA March Madness tournament started on Tuesday, March 16th, with the first four games to see who got into the tournament. After those games were played, more games took place on Wednesday, March 18. The first round of the tournament started Thursday, March 19th and Friday, March 20th. The second round games were played Saturday and Sunday.
The girls’ tournament started on Wednesday, March 18th, then followed on Thursday, March 19th, to get into the tournament. On Friday, March 20th, and Saturday, the first rounds were played. The second round was played on Sunday and Monday.
The Sweet 16 and Elite 8 were played this past week and weekend. The stage is now set for the final four in both men and women.
At AHS, Student Senate is hosting a March Madness bracket challenge. The leader on the men’s bracket as of Thursday, April 2nd, are Mr. Arrowood, Micah Kelley, Mr. Birkey, Skylar Ostwald, and Josie Reynolds. “If it ain’t close it ain’t fun,” states Mr. Arrowood.
The leaders for the women’s bracket here at Algona as of Thursday, April 2nd, are Mrs. Becker, Mr. Birkey, Taylor Coleman, Taylor VanOtterloo, and Mr. Arrowood.
Good luck to the bracket challengers as the women’s tournament wraps up this Friday and Sunday and the men finish up Saturday and Monday. Winners of the bracket challenge get a prize from Student Senate.
