Solo and Ensemble Festival is an opportunity for students to showcase their talents in music. Both band and choir students from Algona High School performed a solo or participated in an ensemble for a rating of a Division I, II, or III. Junior horn player, David Kissinger, said, “It’s a great opportunity for talented musicians to show what they can do.” The festival took place on March 28th at Clear Lake High School.
There were a total of fifty-eight AHS students involved with the festival. Algona’s band students returned home with a total of twenty-eight Division I ratings and nineteen Division II ratings. David Kissinger, Paul Kissinger, and Owen Orban were awarded Outstanding Performance in their centers. They will perform during the Outstanding Performers Festival on May 19th at Iowa State University.
Algona’s choir students returned home with twelve Division I ratings, six Division II ratings, and three Division III ratings. Congratulations to all participating students for their hard work and achievements.
