Boys' track 2026

Algona Bulldogs Track and Field was off and running on February 23rd. Will Limbaugh says, "I'm excited for track because of the new facilities that allow us to practice more.”

On Thursday, March 12th, the Bulldog boys’ team traveled to Ames, Iowa, for the IATC Championships. The Bulldogs had a great track meet, placing 3rd overall in class 3A. Max Nevitt and Will Limbaugh started the Bulldogs off hot by placing 1st and 3rd in the shot put. Later, the distance medley team placed first in a meet record time of 3:37.78. Will Weichert and Tate Garman made the finals in the 60m, placing 3rd and 6th. Gavin Weber placed 3rd in the 1600, running a time of 4:24.18; he also placed 2nd in the 800 in a time of 2:01.92. Will Weichert placed 5th in the 200m in a time of 22.71. To finish off the meet, the Bulldogs’ 4x100 team placed 6th in a time of 44.36. 

On March 17th, the Bulldogs went to Mason City for the Riverhawk Invitational. In the shot put, Max Nevitt won with a throw of 56-03 feet, and Will Limbaugh came in 2nd with a throw of 51-11.5 feet. In the 400, Levi Walker came in 3rd with a time of 54.37 seconds. Will Weichert placed 2nd in the 60 with a time of 6.98, and behind him, in 3rd place, Tate Garman ran a time of 7.08. Gavin Weber ran the 800 in a time of 2:01.35 seconds, which set the meet record at Mason City. Tate Garman broke the meet record in the 200 with a time of 22.95, and Will Weichert came in 2nd with a time of 23.39. Lastly, the 4x400m team of Gavin Weber, Seth Moreno, Owen Moe, and Levi Walker finished 1st in a time of 3:40.29. 

The Bulldogs took a trip to the Humboldt indoor meet on March 20th. Max Nevitt placed first in shot put with a throw of 56-04, and Will Limbaugh placed 2nd with at throw of 56-04. The distance medley team of Aaron Cheever, Owen Moe, Cael Rotert, and Cohen Thilges placed 2nd with a time of 4:09.47. Aaron Cheever placed 5th in the 60 in a time of 7.85. Owen Moe placed 5th in 200 in a time of 26.00. 

On March 27th, the Bulldogs competed at Clear Lake in the North Iowa Indoor Championships. Max Nevitt was the champion in shot put by throwing 59-05.50 feet. Will Weichert ran a personal best in the 60m in a time of 6.93 seconds. Levi Walker ran a personal best of 23.86 seconds along with Owen Moe, who ran a personal best of 24.6 seconds. Gavin Weber set a mile meet record with a time of 4:25.45, and Cohen Thilges ran a personal best with a time of 5:11.55. Overall the team placed second with 71 points. 

The boys competed in Algona on March 31st at the first ever Brad Heitland Indoor Track meet. Dawson Elsbecker started off the meet placing 2nd in the long jump with a personal best jump of 20-08.5. The 4x200m team placed first in a time of 1:33.52 seconds. Gavin Weber won the 800m in a time of 1:57.44 seconds. To finish off the meet, the boys placed second in the 4x4 with a time of 3:37.60 seconds. 

The next meet will take place on April 7th in Eagle Grove. This will be the Bulldogs’ season opener for the outdoor season.
