Algona High School girls’ golf hosted its first golf triangular of the 2026 season on April 14, featuring North Union and West Bend-Mallard. The girls teed off at 4:00 p.m. with a shotgun start at River Road Golf Club. The Varsity girls' team placed first with a team score of 202, led by Lainey Steuk, who earned individual medalist honors.
The boys followed a similar format, beginning at 4:15 p.m. at North Kossuth Golf Club in Bancroft. The Varsity boys also claimed first place, finishing with a team score of 140, being one stroke off from tying the school team record. Nathan Manske took top individual honors with a score of 30. This score puts him as the fourth player to shoot five under par in Algona High school history. Nathan Manske said, “It feels great to win and be so close to the school record.”
Looking ahead, the Varsity girls will compete in an 18-hole tournament on Friday, April 17. They will face Emmetsburg, Estherville Lincoln Central, Spencer, and Spirit Lake at the Estherville Golf Course, with a 10:00 a.m. start time.
Varsity boys will participate in the Bill Chambers Invitational on Monday, April 20. This 18-hole tournament, hosted at Spencer Golf & Country Club, will feature 16 schools. Tee time is set for 10:00 a.m.
