The Algona girls’ track and field team had a great indoor season and is now ready for outdoor meets, despite the weather not always having favorable conditions. Since the weather was not cooperating, the meet at Clear Lake on April 7th was cancelled and will not be made up, along with the track meet at Eagle Grove that was supposed to be held on April 9th.

The girls traveled across town on Monday, April 13th, to compete at the track meet at Bishop Garrigan. The first place finishers in field events include Jada Roberts in High Jump, Maya Lentz in Long Jump, and Reagan Haynes in Shot and Discus. Junior, Reagan Haynes, states, “I have only lost once in Shot and Discus.” In the running events, the Bulldogs received 2nd place in the Sprint Medley. The runners were Lilly Allie, Bella Fairbanks, Natalie Johnson, and Macy Knapp. The Shuttle Hurdle team got 1st place overall. The runners were Sienna Fehr, Alissa Engel, Rebecca Willie, and Alyssa Miller. Unfortunately, the meet was cut short due to Iowa weather. Kayee girls' track 4/14/26

The Bulldogs then hosted their only home outdoor meet this season. The girls placed 2nd as a team, falling just short of Clear Lake. The 4x100 team that consisted of Lilly Allie, Alissa Engel, Maya Lentz, and Natalie Johnson almost took a second off of their earlier time. With this time drop, they have a better chance of qualifying for the Drake Relays. In Long Jump, Maya Lentz placed 1st and Alissa Engel got 4th. In High Jump, Jada Roberts got 1st place. Reagan Haynes received 2nd place in Shot Put and 1st place in Discus. In the 100 Meter Dash, Natalie Johnson got 1st. The 100 Meter Hurdles had two AHS athletes who placed, Alyssa Miller in 2nd and Sienna Fehr in 4th. In the 400, Regan Jensen got 4th place. For the 400 hurdles, Sienna Fehr got second place and Rose Kitzinger got 3rd. Macy Knapp earned 1st place in the 800. The 4x200 got 2nd place with the runners of Allie, Engel, Lentz, and Johnson. The same group earned 1st in the 4x200. In the 4x400, the runners were Regan Jensen, Rose Kitzinger, Chelsy Vicente-Gomez, and Macy Knapp, and they got 1st place. Both the Sprint Medley and the Distance Medley Relay got 5th place. The runners for the Sprint Medley included Alyssa Miller, Eden Geddings, Peyton Ernst, and Sienna Fehr. The Distance Medley runners were Geddings, Ernst, Kitzinger, and Vicente-Gomez.

The girls traveled to North Iowa on Thursday, April 16th, a beautiful night for a track meet! There were many events that had the Algona girls in the top five. In the 100 Meter Dash, Johnson got 1st place and Lentz got 4th place. In the 200 Meter Dash, Johnson also got first, and Allie got 5th place. In the 800 Meter Run, Knapp received 1st place running the time of 2.31. The 100 Meter Hurdles had two top five runners, Miller, who got 2nd, and Fehr, who got 3rd. The 400 Meter Hurdles also had two girls place, Fehr in 1st and Kitzinger. In the Distance Medley, Algona got 1st with the runners of Allie, Jensen, Engel, and Kitzinger. The 4x100 Meter Shuttle Hurdle Relay got 1st with Fehr, Rebecca Wille, Cassidy Bierstedt, and Miller. In field events, the girls did amazing! In Long Jump, Lentz got 1st place jumping 16 feet and 3 inches, and Alissa Engel got 4th jumping 14 feet. In Shot Put and Discus, Reagan Haynes got 1st in both! Grethel Rivas Torres followed in Shot Put, placing 2nd. The last event to highlight for this meet was the 100 Meter Dash; Alexis Kayee got 2nd place, running 15.76 seconds, and Evie Martinez got 3rd, running 16.81.
