Cadaver tour 2026

Written by Taylor Coleman

Anatomy is a class where you can learn all about the human body. Mr. Arrowood's AHS anatomy class has covered many parts and systems of the human body so far this year, including the digestive system, nervous system, skeletal system, muscular system, and many more.

On Wednesday, April 15th, Mr. Arrowood’s anatomy class took a trip down to Des Moines University, DMU, to learn about a cadaver. A cadaver is a dead human body that is used for science. Mr. Arowood’s current anatomy class and other people who already took the class earlier this year went because it helps the students know how everything works in the body and where everything is placed. When they arrived, there were 10 stations with different systems of the body. The stations were taught by college students. The high school students rotated through every station while listening to the college students teach them about the different systems and what they do for the body. A junior currently taking the anatomy class, Maya McDermott, says, “I learned how everything is connected inside our body and how it all works together.”

This was a very meaningful and educational opportunity for the AHS students to learn more about the human body, allowing them to expand their knowledge and figure out how everything works together.
