The Algona Bulldog girlsā softball team finished the 2025 season with a record of 20-7 and lost in a really close sub-State final game against Estherville Lincoln Central. The Bulldogs graduated four seniors last year: Ryan Haynes, Kaitlyn Burns, Lainey Veinteicher, and Kayla Buscher.
The Bulldogs will return 6 out of the 9 starters from last year's team, which shows a lot of hope for this season considering their strong batting lineup last year and returning a lot of key contributors this year. Maya Lentz batted .444, Reagan Haynes was .427 with seven home runs, Allison Trunkhill batted .396 with three home runs on the season, and Emma Spear batted .345. All of these girls will be back and ready to play for the Bulldogs.
On the pitching side, in 2025 Allison Trunkhill had a record of 16-6 and threw 130 innings, striking out 135 batters while holding an earned run average of 1.99.
The first practice for the Bulldogs will take place on May 4th, while the first game will be on May 26th against Newman Catholic. The girls are hoping to build off last year's successes and have a great season.
