ACSF Foundation

The Algona Community School Foundation offers seven great scholarships for AHS graduates to help them with their college education.  The scholarship applications are due by April 8th at 4:00pm, at the latest. There are no exceptions after the due date. Before completing the online application forms, determine which options you are eligible for. Then prepare all of the required documents for the specific scholarship you are applying for.

Each Foundation scholarship varies on what documents must be submitted. The ACSF, Hoenk, Honsbruch, Reed, and Sefrit scholarships require: two letters of recommendation, resume, personal essay, and unofficial transcript. The Mahana scholarship requires: two letters of recommendation, resume, personal essay, unofficial transcript, and student aid report. The Thompson scholarship requires: unofficial transcript and student aid report.

After all of the documents have been submitted, students will receive a confirmation email to verify that everything is accurate. Without the confirmation email, the application will be considered incomplete and will not be reviewed by the selection committee. Senior, Ameilia Tilli, says, “Turning in all of the applications was super simple and I can’t wait for graduation day to see how many scholarships have been awarded.” If students have any complications, they can ask the counselors or send an email to scholarships@algona.k12.ia.us, but make sure to do it as soon as possible.

This is a great opportunity for students to get some help for their expensive college dues. Also, if students want more scholarship options, the counselors have posted many on the Class of 2022 Google Classroom page. The due dates for the other scholarship options on Google Classroom vary, so be sure to look out for those. Get the applications for the Foundation scholarships turned in before April 8th, at 4:00pm, to be reviewed by the selection committee!
