Link Crew retreat 2021

Leadership is a very important skill at AHS and in life. It is found in many ways throughout Algona High School. Students at AHS have many opportunities to learn how to be great leaders, and one amazing opportunity is through Link Crew!

Link Crew consists of a group of junior and senior students who show excellence at AHS. Mr. Cecil and Mr. McLaughlin are in charge of Link Crew at AHS and are great adult leaders. Link Crew members are in charge of helping incoming freshmen transition into high school and help to improve AHS in many ways!

Link Crew members have to go on an overnight retreat in Okoboji in early August to learn leadership skills, where they have a fun time bonding with each other. This retreat prepares members for the freshman orientation that happens the following week in August. During the freshman orientation, Link Crew leaders talk with freshmen and have a fun time showing them how great high school can be if you apply yourself and get involved.

In order to be a part of Link Crew, sophomores and juniors must fill out a form that is on the high school announcements. After all of the forms have been gone through, students will be notified of who are next year’s Link Crew leaders.

Cailey Carroll was a part of Link Crew last year and loved the experience so much that she decided to sign up again. Carroll says, “I enjoy sharing my wisdom with incoming freshmen.”
