Homecoming 2022

Algona’s Homecoming will be held from September 25 through the 30th, 2022. The week will be full of activities for students to participate in, capped off with a home football game against Gilbert.

This year’s theme is Be Our Guest at AHS, a Disney+ theme. The dress up days for the week include: Meme Day on Monday, PJ Day on Tuesday, Adam Sandler Day on Wednesday, Disney Day on Thursday, and Friday is Spirit Day.

For the hallway themes, the seniors will focus on Pixar movies, juniors’ hallway will be princesses and villains, sophomores will highlight classic Disney movies, and freshmen have Marvel as their hallway theme. Hallway decorating will be on Sunday, September 25th, from 1-6. Students can also decorate during FLEX time if they have all of their work done and are not called in by a teacher. Class boxes of supplies are located in Mrs. Spear’s room.

On Wednesday, September 28th, Powderpuff Football and Muscle Volleyball will be held.  The night will start off with Powderpuff Football, where the girls play football, on the field at 6:30. Muscle Volleyball is where the boys play volleyball. This will be held in the gym after Muscle Volleyball concludes.

Then, on Friday, September 30th, there will be pep rallies and a parade. The morning starts out with the senior football players, cheerleaders, and drumline members traveling to the elementary buildings for pep rallies. The high school pep rally, beginning at 1:00, will feature the band, fall sports teams, the Homecoming court, dance team, and the cheerleaders. At the end of the pep rally, this year’s king and queen will be announced.

The parade will begin after the high school pep rally, at approximately 2:15. The parade starts at Bertha Godfrey, goes south to McGregor, then comes into the high school parking lot on the east side. The parade will feature elementary students, fall activities at AHS, the high school and middle school band, and the Homecoming court.

Later that night, the Homecoming football game will start at 7:00 against Gilbert. Head football coach, Andy Jacobson, states, “Homecoming is one of the best days of the year. We get to see all of our young kids at the elementaries, which creates an exciting game day environment for our kids.”
