Homecoming court 2022

The Algona High School seniors recently elected the 2022 Homecoming Court. Brooklyn Helmers, Ella Lawson, Beth Anderson, Moriah Knapp, and A’Lailah Perry are the candidates for queen. The candidates for king are Simon Feucht, Caden Weber, Levi Clegg, John Cox, and Levi Clegg. On Tuesday, September 13th, all students in grades 9-12 cast their votes for a king and queen, to be announced at Friday’s Homecoming pep rally, at 1:00 at Bulldog Stadium. If inclement weather, the pep rally and coronation will be held in the AHS gym. 

Beth Anderson is the daughter of Matt and Dini Anderson. Beth is a leader in many activities at AHS, including being the dance team captain, the president of the Algona FFA chapter, senior class secretary of Student Senate, and a member of the National Honor Society. Outside of school, Beth participates in 4-H, is a member of the First United Methodist Church and their youth group, and dances at Dance Connection. Beth likes reading, dancing, working with livestock, and spending time with her family and friends. Beth intends to continue her studies by majoring in animal science at Iowa State University in the fall of 2023.

Brooklyn Helmers is the daughter of Josh and Kelley Helmers. Brooklyn is involved in many activities during the school year, including Student Senate, Link Crew, National Honor Society, and softball. Brooklyn enjoys hanging out with friends, staying active, and shopping with her mom. Next fall, Brooklyn plans on attending Iowa State University and majoring in business. 

Moriah Knapp is the daughter of Jeff and Karen Knapp. Moriah participates in many sports at AHS, including cross country, track, and softball. Moriah also is a part of Student Senate, Link Crew, National Honor Society, and broadcasting. Outside of school Moriah is involved in youth ministry. Some of Moriah’s hobbies include boating, running, cooking, traveling, and riding around in her Jeep, listening to Taylor Swift. Moriah has been accepted into a couple of universities but hasn’t committed to one just yet. She plans to continue her running career in college and major in education and psychology. 

Ella Lawson is the daughter of Matt and Lisa Lawson. Ella keeps busy at Algona High School. She is involved in track, National Honor Society, Link Crew, and the yearbook. Outside of school, you can often find Ella working at Flipside in LuVerne. Ella enjoys hanging out with friends and family, shopping, and staying active. In the fall of 2023, Ella plans to attend Iowa State University and major in business.

A’Lailah Perry is the daughter of Beth and Corey Johnson and Vince Perry. A’Lailah is involved in many activities inside and outside of school. A’Lailah keeps active at AHS on the  volleyball, basketball, and track teams. She is also a member of Student Senate. Outside of school A’Lailah plays USAV club volleyball and nannies. In her free time she enjoys jet skiing, watching Netflix, working out, and hanging out with friends. A’Lailah plans to continue her volleyball career at Northern State University and major in sports management.

Levi Clegg is the son of Wayne and Michelle Clegg. Levi keeps very busy at AHS. He is involved in football, track, Model UN, Student Senate, the musical, and multimedia. Levi really enjoys the Dawg Pound and you can often find him leading chants and cheers at volleyball games. In the summer, Levi keeps busy working at Site Services. In his free time, Levi enjoys hanging out with the boys, golfing, working out, watching Netflix, eating, and listening to music. Levi has already been accepted to the University of Iowa where he plans on majoring in biology in the fall. 

John Cox is the son of Ben and Pam Cox. John is always on the go, being a member of Link Crew, football, golf, National Honor Society, Student Senate, and the musical. Outside of school, John is a lifeguard at the Algona Aquatic Center, is a member of the Methodist church youth group, and umpires little league games. In whatever free time he can find, John likes to play golf, lift weights, play the guitar, hang out with friends and family, and take naps. Next fall, John plans on attending South Dakota State University, majoring in exercise science.

Simon Feucht is the son of Jason and Stacie Feucht. Simon is involved in basketball, golf, Student Senate, and is a football manager. He is also a member of Grace Church here in Algona. His hobbies include hanging out with the boys, shooting hoops, and napping. Simon is already accepted into Iowa State University, where he plans on majoring in business finance. 

Harrison Waltz is the son of Pete and Holly Waltz. Harrison is a student coach for football. He is also a basketball manager, a member of the golf team, and part of National Honor Society. In the summer, you can find Harrison being a lifeguard at the Algona Aquatic Center and being an umpire for Park and Rec’s baseball and softball programs. In his free time, Harrison enjoys golfing, reading, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. After high school, Harrison is undecided as of a location, but he plans on attending college, majoring in business administration and management and possibly playing golf.

Caden Weber is the son of Chris and Jessica Kern and the late Robert Weber. Caden is always on the go, being active in football, basketball, track and field, and Link Crew. His hobbies include working out, running, hanging out with the boys, and playing Madden. After high school, Caden plans on pursuing a degree in education.
