Mr. Connors - 2022

This year has brought many new changes and new teachers at AHS. One of these being a new vocal director for the high school, Mr. Connors. Mr. Connors is a first year teacher and instructor for choir and musical theory.

Coming out of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, Algona High School was Mr. Connors’ first choice for schools to teach at. “I’ve always heard very good things about Algona’s school,” says Mr. Connors.  Mr. Connors’ number one choice for a job has always been teaching music because it is a very strong passion of his. He hopes to pass on his experiences to his students and to “honor the ones who taught me by teaching others.”

Choir’s first concert is on October 18th and auditions for All State Choir take place on October 22nd. In the meantime, some students will anxiously await results of Opus auditions, which will arrive in a few weeks. Opus and All State are two of the most prestigious honor choirs that any student could participate in.

“My favorite thing about teaching is being able to watch kids get it and experience themselves.” Mr. Connors feels that this is a job that is constantly changing and evolving, which is something he most enjoys about it because of the creativeness that it requires. He is very excited to be here and the AHS community is very excited to have him.
