FFA 2022 Ignite the Spirit project

What is one of the things we love most about a boneless pork loin? The fact that it can nutritiously fill the stomachs of many people, and Algona FFA Chapter did just that!

The Algona FFA chapter took part in the Deb and Jeff Hansen Foundation’s 2022 Project: Ignite the Spirit. This program provides all groups with two cases of boneless pork loins, $500, aprons and thermal totes bags to prepare a community service project of their choice.

During the winter break, members of the Algona FFA chapter chose to slice up the raw pork loin into packages with four slices per package and included canned fruit, vegetables and bags of potatoes to be donated to the Kossuth County Food Pantry.  They also picked up jugs of laundry detergent and packs of toilet paper, all items requested by the Kossuth County Food Pantry.

The Algona FFA chapter ended up with 87 individual bags of meat, which will feed 348 people. It was the third project the Algona FFA chapter has partnered with the Kossuth County Food Pantry to complete in 2022.  The FFA chapter officers identified food insecurity as a problem in our area and are working to reduce it by partnering with the Kossuth County Food Pantry with various community service projects.
