3rd Grade with birdhouses

Mrs. Christensen's class along with their business partner, Dan Larsen, traveled to Algona High School's construction classroom to build birdhouses for their birdhouse project. Their class motto is, "Making the World a Better Place," and they focus on how to give back to their communities. The students built about 200 birdhouses and will each take one home. The remaining birdhouses are normally delivered to pediatric units in area hospitals and the Ronald McDonald House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This year, because of COVID-19 restrictions, the birdhouses will stay in our community and be distributed by the Algona Fire Department. The date is to be determined. This was the 9th year we have been building birdhouses and we have completed over 2,000 so far with birdhouses located around the United States! Thank you to everyone who helped out, especially Travis Birkey, Kory Kuecker, Tim Ricklefs, Betsy Becker and the construction, automotive and FFA classes, Dan Larsen and North Iowa Lumber!
