Spring Show dance team 2024

The AHS dance team’s season is coming to an end. After a great time at the State competition in December, and fun basketball halftime performances, their annual spring show will bring the team’s season to a close tonight.

Three routines were choreographed by the team to teach to the elementary schools for their clinics. They went to each school this past week to teach fun Barbie themed routines to the kids participating. The elementary kids will get to show off their fun routines tonight throughout the show.

Captains Sydney Seebecker, Danica VanGorkom, and Maggie Wartick also choreographed the teams’ classic friend and co-ed dances that will be showcased tonight. The friends learned a fun upbeat Barbie routine, and the boys learned how to dance like a Ken doll. Shriji Patel, one of the dancers in the co-ed routine, says, “I’m so excited to perform this routine because my hips don’t lie!”

Throughout the show, the dancers will perform their Homecoming routine, State pom and State kick routines, four basketball halftime routines, coed and friend routines, and finally, the senior farewell routine. The team has been practicing for two weeks to get all of their dances looking clean and sharp. Allee Carr says, “I’m excited to show everyone all of our routines at the spring show!!”

There are five other groups coming to perform in the show as well. North Union’s dance team, Bancroft Dance Academy, Just for Kix, Dance Connection by Michelle, and Baton Twirling Unlimited will all show off some of their routines tonight.

The dance team will lose five girls to graduation this year: Sarah Mawdsley, Sydney Seebecker, Danica VanGorkom, Ashyln Waldera, and Maggie Wartick. Come out and see the Algona Dance Team wrap up their season with their annual spring show.
